Reviews
A railway line is being sabotaged and after one such incident an old engineer "Smokey" (J. Farrell MacDonald) - is dismissed. The profligate young son of the owner asks to be allowed to investigate the spate of incidents and soon discovers there are much more sinister goings on afoot. There are a lot of Hornby-style railway effects - especially around the disaster scenes; and the fisticuffs are verging on the comical. The script is also very much of it's time, the dialogue flows like glue. That said, it is quite an engaging tale with a bit of a social conscience too; you do really feel sorry for the wrongly sacked engineer and it's got quite an exhilarating ending.
