Reviews
"Was ya ever bit by a dead bee?" Plot in a nutshell: An American boat captain wages war against the Nazis in Martinique, with some help along the way from his frequently drunk right-hand man, and his clever girlfriend. Comments: Lauren Bacall is great, and very beautiful, in her debut. It's the film where Bogie met Bacall, and they're not acting; they're falling in love. And we have Walter Brennan, as Bogie's tipsy pal, with his constant drunk ramblings. Okay script, a bit slow-moving at times. It's not Bogie's or Hawks' best, but still not bad. Overall, I'd say it's worth a watch. "You know how to whistle, don't you? Just put your lips together and blow." ~Marie Browning (Lauren Bacall)
